About the film:
Privacy of Wounds is a hybrid documentary which examines the trauma brought upon by being a political prisoner in Syria. With great compassion, filmmaker Dalia Al-Kury highlights Syrian testimonies through this filmic experiment, where she reconstructs a prison cell to observe three former prisoners for three days. In this period, the “captive” men of vastly different backgrounds share their own experiences of the atrocities committed by the Assad regime and discuss politics, love, hope and religion. They find out that they are united in their ability to defy the limitations of their imprisonment and torture. The film was nominated for the Norwegian Peace Film Award at the Tromsø Film Festival and also competed for the Best Norwegian Documentary at the HUMAN International Documentary Film Festival.
