Opening party: Albi Ay Ay! + DJ Sevana

Albi Ay! Ay! is an immersive participatory multimedia installation (so many artsy words!) by Vegan Sushi for Breakfast in the form of a party! It is based on the work of Maha Abdul Wahab, a forgotten sex-positive singer/composer from the 60's. It questions our understanding of "traditional values", how our society has constructed a more conservative approach to sex, and how we talk about sexuality today in art and pop culture… But mostly, it’s an excuse to dance to new and old Arabic pop songs!

About Vegan Sushi for Breakfast (Beirut, Lebanon):
We are an art collective of two called Vegan Sushi for Breakfast, who graduated from the Lebanese University Institute of Fine Arts. Jeanine (El Khawand) completed a master’s in visual arts and animation (which comes in handy in these projects!) and Myra (El Mir) is currently working on her PhD in Gender and Sexuality Studies (and calls partying to vintage sex songs "research"). We work on participatory projects that translate research through art. We are also founders of a feminist art space in Beirut.
